NOTEWORTHY
As a cost-savings measure, BUEC provided cross drain hydraulic connections between natural depressions.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Ocala International Airport developed a new airplane hangar complex with an access road from 67th Ave to the north. This 2-lane road crosses a closed basin property and included 3 cross drains and two treatment ponds. BUEC conducted all hydraulic modeling and permitting coordination with SWFWMD.
PROJECT PURPOSE
Bayer United provided drainage design, permitting coordination, and 3D modeling for the construction of the 3 ac North Development Road. As part of this project, Bayer United modeled the watershed modifications from this access road, provided a roadside swale and treatment pond for the new runoff, and designed cross drain connections for the existing natural depression areas. Additionally, BUEC assisted with utility coordination for potable water, electric, and sanitary sewer lines with a pump station.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
As a cost-savings measure, BUEC provided cross drain hydraulic connections between natural depressions across the roadway using “bubbler” structures to provide pipe cover without raising the profile of the roadway. This design minimized the required embankment and protected the roadway from flooding.
