PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This work order contract consisted of preparing roadway construction plans for the milling and resurfacing of select major and minor roadways within the county which included: pavement markings and striping plans, new and replacement signage, bike lane additions, safety-focused school zone improvements, for county-maintained roadways. Quantities and specifications were in full compliance with the Pinellas County Standard Technical Specifications for Roadway and General Construction.

PROJECT PURPOSE

The contract supports the County’s ongoing pavement preservation efforts by enhancing roadway conditions, safety, school zone upgrades, and long-term performance.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

BUEC was tasked primarily with resurfacing projects varying in design scope and making recommendations on the following:

  • Completed: (14) Individual Projects for bid 
  • Construction Plan Sheet Production: 590
  • Total Estimated Construction Costs: $20.75 Million
  • 8,569,124 SY of New Asphalt, equivalent to 151.2 Traffic Lane Miles Evaluated and Designed for safety
  • 60 High Emphasis Crosswalks Designed
  • 184 LF of Channelizing Devices Re-Designed
  • 91 Traffic Speed Tables & Signs Evaluated
  • Pedestrian and school roadway crossings, 
  • 3.5 Miles of New Bicycle Lanes, on a 6-Lane Divided Roadway 
  • Traffic calming near local schools
  • School Safety and Pedestrian Improvements for (6) Pinellas County Schools:
    • Plumb ES, Countyside HS, Hollins HS, Highland Lakes ES, Pinellas Park MS, Rawlings ES
